Mostly these personal show-offs on the web are among the most boring things one can watch, but nevertheless I'd like to reveal a little bit about me, just in short. I didn't put up my pics here because I have a strong exibitional urge but I often wonder who the person behind a website might be, how he might look like and what he's spending his time with. So here's a little bit about me: I'm 30 years old, I'm a geologist. Geologists are the men with the hammers that you often see in the quarries or in the countryside and that hammer around on stones like madmen. They also dig for oil or clean up the mess after the tank of a petrol station has leaked. Apart from working as freelancer in an environmental consulting office, I'm also spending some time with computers, mainly with webdesign (if you can call it like that), but I also like fiddling around with hardware or helping friends fix their computer problems, installing new hard- or software. Presently I'm administrator of the High Voltage Sid Collection (HVSC) , a freeware hobby project dedicated to collecting all the Commodore C64 musics from games or demos ever made. Presently there are over 30.000 so called sidtunes in HVSC, and it's proudly one of the best sorted and biggest chiptune collections out there. If you like the both raw and warm sound of the SID chip, feel free to check it out. In winter I do enjoy a snowboard-ride now and then, in summer my main sportive activities are tennis, sometimes football or running. Hey, but you came here for checking out some Commodore 64 stuff, didn't you! So go ahead and download some demos and enjoy the nostalgic feeling. Remember: There used to be a time where you just bought a computer and all the programs used to run on them at the same speed and quality. There was no extra hardware available, like a Geforce/Radeon graphics board or a Soundblaster 7.1, every program had to respect the limitations of the system. And despite these limitations the programmers back then achieved noticable good results by tweaking the hardware and optimizing the code to the maximum. Games didn't attract attention only by cool 3D graphics or symphonic sound, playability was what counted in the end. This is what's so fascinating about the C64 and 8 bit computers in general, and in the end this is probably the reason why you are lurking in this far-out corner of the web. Thank you for your visit! Oh, I forgot: Please leave a message in the guestbook, you know, ghostsurfing sucks! ;-) |
